As of July 1, 2014 Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 will became available on Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA). Subscriber Access License (SAL) use rights will be updated to fully align with the on-premises CALs.
New features can be licensed with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 SALs bringing enhanced value to the product. Some of the valuable features being added are Warehouse and Transportation Management, Demand forecasting, Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services and Companion. Based on feedback we are making several licensing improvements with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3.
We will be adding additional value to the Functional SAL by moving 6 roles down that were previously classified as Enterprise SALs. These roles are Manager, Marketing Manager, Environmental Manager, Quality Control Manager, Service Delivery Manager, and Vendor Account Mgr.
In addition, we are moving 5 roles from the Functional SAL to the Task SAL. The Task SAL is being improved by now including the following roles: Shipping Clerk, Receiving Clerk, Warehouse Worker, Dispatcher, and Machine Operator.
To further enhance the value of the Task SAL we are adding the following use rights: Approval of invoices and Approval of all Time & Expense – including billable. In addition, the Task SAL will now include use rights to operate a Warehouse Device.
We feel that these Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 Licensing Improvements will help add even more value to an already outstanding product launch.
In Exhibit I of the present document you will find the SAL definitions to be updated in the SPUR on July 1, 2014. The Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 Licensing Guide contains additional information on the SPLA model and is available here.
Existing customers will need to download new license keys after July 1, 2014 to obtain updated R3 functionality and the improved use rights described in this announcement.
